2 Chicago-area banks fail

September 4, 2009 Platinum Community Bank in Rolling Meadows is closing for good.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation okayed the payout of insured deposits. The top amount is $250,000.

The state also closed Inbank, headquartered in Oak Forest. But it's being bought by MB Financial Bank.

Three branches of Inbank, including the one in Chicago, reopened Saturday as branches of MB Financial. Customers can continue to write checks and use their current ATM or debit cards.
