Illinois State Police use a Cessna airplane to crackdown on speeding motorists in one northwest suburb. A state police, fixed-wing plane flew over Route 53 northbound in Palatine during the Labor Day weekend.

State police said the pilot can catch speeders from a quarter-mile in the sky. The pilot then radios to state troopers which vehicle to pull over.

State police say motorists are often shocked to learn that they were nabbed by an aircraft.
