On Stage with…Tom Wopat - "Love Swings"

September 11, 2009 (PRESS RELEASE) The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University (ATRU) proudly presents On Stage with…Tom Wopat - "Love Swings" Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. as the final show in its intimate "On Stage With…" 2009 Summer Cabaret Series. This unique, up-close-and-personal concert allows the audience to enjoy the rare and exciting experience of sitting at tables of six on the stage of the magnificent Auditorium Theatre while enjoying one of the nation's most talented cabaret stars. The stage is transformed into an intimate 1940s-style cabaret club with tables, cocktail service and light appetizers, complete with a magnificent view of the Auditorium Theatre's Louis Sullivan-designed interior from a vantage point typically reserved for performers. The New York Times raves that "Mr. Wopat, like Sinatra in his glory days, makes it all look easy and perfectly natural." Well-known for his TV roles as Luke Duke on "The Dukes of Hazzard" and Jeff on "Cybill," Tom Wopat is also a major presence on Broadway. From his 1978 debut in "I Love My Wife" to his Tony-nominated role in "Annie Get Your Gun," with stops along the way in "Guys and Dolls," "Chicago" and "42nd Street," Wopat has thrilled audiences around the country. His critically acclaimed and intimate cabaret show "Love Swings" includes favorite songs from some of music's biggest stars including Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and Judy Garland.
