Former high school football star not guilty of murder

September 10, 2009 The DuPage County state's attorney says 31-year-old Hubert Thompson was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

During the trial, Thompson admitted to striking and throwing his 66-year-old neighbor, James Malone, off an apartment balcony in Lombard in March of 2007.

Thompson testified he believed Malone was poisoning his food and marijuana.

The Department of Human Services will now give the judge a treatment plan for Thompson.
