Mayor helps open new math, science academy

September 15, 2009 (CHICAGO) Jorge Prieto Academy, 2231 N. Central, will serve 900 students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. It has science labs, a state-of-the-art computer network, a library media center, art studies, and music rooms. The mayor predicted it will be one of the finest schools in the city.

"If you give a good quality education to the children of Chicago, you give them the tools for life. And if they fail, our system is destined to fail as well. We cannot let our children fail in our school system," said Mayor Daley.

The mayor said his goal is to make every Chicago public school a high-quality school.
