Southwest cuts lemons from drink service

September 17, 2009 Southwest Airlines says starting October 1 lemons will no longer be offered as part of its beverage service.

Southwest estimates it will save $100,000 each year by slicing lemons out of its budget.

The airline will continue to serve limes because officials say passengers prefer them over lemons.

Recently, American Airlines cut olives from salads which the airline claims will save $40,000 a year.
