CTA to build electric bus stalls

The Chicago Transit Authority will get a $1.5 million grant to fund green projects. The grant is part of a $100 million federal program to reduce global warming and create green jobs.

The CTA will use its share of the money to build electrified stalls that will deliver electrical power to about 80 buses.

The stalls will also provide heating and air-conditioning to the vehicles during overnight cleaning.

Without the electrified stalls, the buses would be left to idle during that time.
