Last Friday, a grad student was attacked by three young men as he walked west from Stony Island. He was forced to give up his wallet and was hit in the face.
In a separate incident, a man walked into the Metra station and was attacked by four young men who stole his wallet and cell phone. The suspects took off on bicycles.
University and Chicago police are working to beef up security in the area and are reviewing surveillance tapes to see if they can identify any of the attackers.
