A west suburban woman has been sentenced for taking her neighbor's cat and dumping it in a rural area of Kane County. Brenda Scharlau lives in Batavia. Tuesday, she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor theft charge as part of a plea agreement.
Police say, sometime last spring, Scharlau took her neighbor's cat Linus, without permission, and dropped it off in an unincorporated part of Kane County.
The cat was never found.
Scharlau was sentenced to 12 months supervision, $200 in fines and$ 600 in restitution.
