September 30, 2009 (CHICAGO) --A Chicago police officer shot and wounded a man who reportedly pointed a gun at officers. Uniformed officers were responding to a call of shots fired around 1:30 Wednesday morning near Trumbull and Ogden. Officers spotted a vehicle leaving that area at a high rate of speed.
Investigators say the man in the vehicle pointed a gun at officers as they approached the car. That's when officers opened fire.
The man's injuries are not life threatening.
The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
