Wind damage reported around area

October 7, 2009 Gusts topping 50 miles per hour toppled trees and snapped power lines across the Chicago area. In Mundelein, ne large tree landed on the side of a home along Noel Drive. No one inside the home was hurt.

Nearby, crews were having a hard time clearing another downed tree. A large swarm of bees apparently made a hive inside the tree trunk.

In Woodridge. ComEd crews were called to clear away some downed power lines. At the outage's height, more than 19,000 ComEd customers lost power because of the wind. ComEd officials say that number was down to just less than 2,000 customers by 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
