Durbin trying to fund anti-violence efforts

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin has taken action to try to get more money for community based anti-violence efforts.The senator got together Friday afternoon with Mayor Daley and Chicago Public Schools CEO Ron Huberman at Hyde Park Academy High School.

Durbin said he has introduced an amendment to increase funding for the U.S. Attorney General's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

"Money and government can't solve all these problems, it will take much more. It will take the cooperation of families, communities, ministers," Durbin said. .

Durbin also meet privately with about 40 CPS students to hear their experiences and concerns about youth violence.
