Umbrellas parade down school hallway

October 9, 2009 (CHICAGO) That's what happened Friday afternoon at the Talcott School on Chicago's West Side.

Children belonging to the Union League Boys and Girls Club carried colorful umbrellas up and down the hallways.

The youngsters had painted their umbrellas with designs promoting peace in their neighborhood.

It is part of a national project called umbrellas for peace.

Started as a memorial after the 911 attacks, the umbrella project has spread across the country as a way to help children deal with violence.
