Daniels seeks more input on fiscal forecast

October 12, 2009 (INDIANAPOLIS) Tax collections for the first three months of this fiscal year are $254 million below what a forecasting committee predicted. That is 8 percent below target.

State Budget Director Chris Ruhl sent a letter to the forecasting committee on Friday asking what the state can expect to receive for the next nine months of the fiscal year. The letter says updated information is critical so the administration can decide if budget cuts are necessary and by what amount.

The forecasting committee includes fiscal analysts from each of the four legislative caucuses, plus four additional analysts.
