A 28-year-old Chicago man faces murder and battery charges after police say they caught him just after he allegedly shot two men, one of them fatally. Chicago police say Terrence Gallaway shot the men Friday night and then jumped into a car. Officers heard the shots being fired, then saw Gallaway get into the car.

Police say as officers approached him, he leapt out of the vehicle and took off on foot.

He was caught after a brief chase, and police say he was carrying a loaded handgun. Witnesses identified him as the gunman who shot the two men.

The second victim was shot in the shoulder and was treated and released from an area hospital.

Gallaway is due in bond court Monday. It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
