Video gambling banned in parts of Lake County

October 13, 2009 On Tuesday, county board members voted 18 to four on the measure.

Video gambling is a major part of the financing package that Gov. Pat Quinn signed into law earlier this year. It allows counties, cities and towns to ban gambling within their boundaries or gives voters the right to seek a referendum to decide the issue.

Lake County officials estimated that the video poker machines would have generated $900,000 a year in revenue in the county.
