Teen walks away from plane crash

A suburban high school student had a close call Saturday night as he walked away from a fiery plane crash.It happened at about 7 p.m., 10 miles from the Peoria airport.

Scott Halls, 17, who is a senior at Lyons Township High in LaGrange, was piloting a Piper Cherokee. He had just taken off when the plane went down on a four-lane road.

Hall walked away unhurt just moments before the plane burst into flames.

A witness says the craft appeared to clip a light pole and skid across the road.
