Some police officers in south suburban Chicago Heights will now be allowed to live outside of that city. On Monday night, aldermen approved a new police contract that allows officers to live outside the city after five years of service.

Under the new contract, officers can move within 20 miles of the city limits, but must notify the police chief at least 45 days before their move. The previous contract required all police officers to live in the city.
