Research: Children injured in car seats

October 20, 2009 Researchers say parents and caregivers who use car seats as carriers then put them on places such as beds and kitchen counters injured 43,000 children over five years.

Thirty four hundred of those infants required hospitalization.

Children left in car seats on tables and other elevated surfaces can wiggle then end up toppling onto the floor.

The research was presented at a meeting of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
