November 1, 2009 (OAK LAWN, Ill.) --
A motorcycle ride Sunday morning benefitted the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. Organizers say more than 1,300 riders took off from Oak Lawn headed to Manteno. Everyone who took part donated cash, personal care items, food, clothing and other items for the veterans.
Gov. Pat Quinn spoke to the riders before they left.
"It's special opportunity for all of us to thank our veterans who are at Manteno. They served us honorably. They deserve our every day salute," Quinn said.
The Manteno Veterans Ride began 11 years ago with just two people.
