Ernesto Reyes, 41, is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm.
State police say Reyes fired his gun into the air on the interstate in Joliet early Sunday morning. As he was putting it away, it fired again hitting his 13-year-old daughter in the neck. She was riding in the front seat of the car. Reyes was a passenger in the backseat.
The girl was taken to Silver Cross Hospital. Her condition is unknown.
