Many residents are familiar with the site that once housed the Yum Yum Donuts shop. The structure was torn down during the past week.
Alderman Tom Tunney is pushing the plan. New Cubs owner Tom Ricketts said he thinks it's a great idea.
"I think that's the plan. Hopefully that's a nice thing for the community to use some of the otherwise unused parking space to do something nice for the neighborhood," said Tom Ricketts Cubs Owner.
The Chicago Park District would help operate the rink, which could open as soon mid-December.
