A citywide celebration will be held Sunday in honor of the late Michael W. Scott. The president of the Chicago Board of Education died on Monday. He was involved in public service in Chicago and Cook County for more than 30 years.

The event -- which is open to the public -- will be held Sunday, November 22 at 4:30 p.m. at the UIC Forum, 725 West Roosevelt Road.

Police have not ruled the cause of death in Scott's case, but the medical examiner calls it a suicide.

Scott is survived by his wife, who is a VP of Community Affairs at ABC7 Chicago.

His family has asked in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Better Boys Foundation (BBF), Michael W. Scott Scholarship Fund, 1512 South Pulaski, Chicago, Ill. 60623.
