Firefighters had to free the man, who was trapped under the backhoe. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The victim was identified as 52-year-old Gary Cichy of Hinckley.

Nicor worker killed on job
November 24, 2009 It happened along Leverenz Road near Book Road. Police say the driver of a box truck side-swiped a backhoe that was working along the shoulder. That caused the backhoe to topple over with the Nicor worker inside it.
