Group releases annual airline survey

November 24, 2009 Virgin America and Midwest Airlines are the high rated of all U.S. airlines. Neither flies out of Chicago. Midwest has a hub in Milwaukee.

Among large carriers, Jet Blue ranks highest for coach seating, followed by Continental and Southwest Airlines.

The big airlines - United, American and Delta all scored poorly. However, all three rated well in premium seating. Continental was considered to have the best business and first class.

Fliers had plenty of good things to say about Southwest. It's considered to have the best luggage policy, best value and best flight-time estimates.

United is tops in food for coach passengers on international flights.

Portland, Oregon's airport was considered the best - New York's was LaGuardia rated the lowest.
