Billboards advertise rewards to stop violence

November 24, 2009 (CHICAGO) Father Michael Pfleger and the faith community of St. Sabina unveiled one of the new billboards on Tuesday.

It's part of a new campaign that offers $5,000 rewards for information that leads to arrests in unsolved shootings.

Fr. Pfleger says the goal is to catch and prosecute the killers of children.

"It is not acceptable that you think you can shoot or kill children in Chicago and get away with it. And that's what's happening. We just lull back to sleep until the next child is killed. We are not going to allow communities to just lull back to sleep and say you can get away with this," said Reverend Michael Pfleger, St.Sabina Church.

About 20 billboards are being put up this week throughout the city.
