Rescued pets take over Midway Airport

November 26, 2009 (CHICAGO) Dozens of dogs have taken over Midway Airport for the first ever Pet Rescue Airlift.

Pet Airways is helping to transport them from Missouri to New York City free of charge.

The dogs were rescued from puppy mills and taken from shelters.

When the animals get to the Big Apple, the goal is to get as many of them adopted as possible.

Thursday night, at a stop off in Chicago, the canines had a Thanksgiving meal.

A shelter in New York has agreed to care for them until they're adopted.
