Funeral held for boxer killed in fight

December 1, 2009 (CHICAGO) Those who knew and loved Francisco "Paco" Rodriguez remembered his life at Our Lady of Grace church on the city's Northwest Side.

Last month, the 25-year-old collapsed at the end of a match in Philadelphia.

Rodriguez's organs were donated to more than half a dozen people who needed transplants.

On Tuesday, he was remembered as a man who died doing what he loved.

"Ever since he was a little kid he always dreamed of being a world champion and he died in his quest to doing that," said Frankie Tafoya, Rodriguez's friend.

"He was a teacher, he was a mentor, amongst being a father, brother. Francisco was a great guy. And at the end the man never stopped giving," said George Hernandez, Rodriguez's trainer.

Rodriguez is survived by his wife and a 5-month-old daughter.
