In northwest suburban Fox Lake, a snowplow driver alerted a family after spotting a garage going up in flames. The snow removal crew was clearing a residential road late Tuesday night when the driver spotted the fire at the three-car detached garage.

"I look over and see that fire going, so, (I) got the guy out of the house and called the fire department," said Curt Cusker, plow driver.

Cusker is a former firefighter. One neighbor was hospitalized with chest pains, and it took crews several hours to put out the blaze.
