Sobering study: Caffeine won't make you less drunk

December 9, 2009 A new study finds caffeine does not sober you up.

The study in the journal Behavioral Neuroscience found caffeine decreases the sedative effects of alcohol but it doesn't improve cognitive function.

Scientists say that means that decision making processes may be compromised. They add that those alcoholic energy drinks that are so popular with young people are not a good mix, because people assume they are not as drunk as they really are.
