The Chicago Housing Authority is taking a look at the past and the future when it comes to affordable housing in the city.A two-day meeting at UIC is examining what's been accomplished 10 years after a program called the Plan for Transformation was launched.

Mayor Daley says replacing high-rises with mixed income housing has been a big success.

"I think thousands of residents are realizing there is a helping hand. We will not isolate people regardless of their status in life, and I think that has always been the American dream," Daley said.

The CHA has built eight mixed income housing developments in recent years.
