Congress is working on a bill to prevent TV commercials from playing louder than the programs they sponsor. A California congressman drafted the bill after finding loud commercials was a common complaint by viewers to the Federal Communications Commission.

Under the bill, the FCC would adopt recommendations on how to transit the audio on commercials in a uniform way.

An identical bill has also been introduced in the Senate.
