Representatives from Mesa, Arizona were in town on Friday trying to convince the cubs to keep their spring training facilities from leaving their city. Mesa's city manager met with members of the Ricketts family at Wrigley Field.

Part of their discussion included identifying potential stadium sites in mesa so they can get started upgrading the team's facilities.

"One of the things we were able to demonstrate to them is the public commitment of providing up to 80 million dollars possibly in financing for a new facility in Mesa with other development around it so we're excited, very positive meeting," said Chris Brady, City Manager, Mesa, Arizona.

The Cubs' have been approached by an investment group in Naples, Florida for a new spring training home there.

The Ricketts family bought the Cubs in October and expects to make a decision next month.
