Researchers: Skin cancer a year-round cancer

December 21, 2009 Cases of the deadly form, melanoma, are on the rise and patients with darker skin need to be as worried about this disease as Caucasians.

A study in the Archives of Dermatology finds minority patients are at greater risk for advanced disease when it's harder to cure.

Just 4.5 percent of white patients were diagnosed with the advanced form, compared to 8 percent of Hispanic patients and nearly 15 percent of African-American patients.
