A northwest Indiana doctor in custody in Italy will not oppose extradition and could be back in the US for trial within a month or two. Dr. Mark Weinberger was indicted in Hammond three years ago on 22 counts of fraud. Prosecutors say he overbilled insurance companies for procedures that weren't done or weren't needed.

Weinberger fled the country, and last week, he was found living in a tent in the Alps. When police arrested him he tried to stab himself in the throat.

Weinberger may also be facing hundreds of civil claims by patients.
