New cancer research shows cancerous tumors can not only spread to other parts of the body, but they can re-seed themselves. The discovery may explain why tumors can grow back even after they are surgically removed.

Researchers at New York's Sloan-Kettering cancer center say the findings may help lead to new drugs that stop the process of metastasis or cancerous spreading.

Their work is published in the journal Cell.
