Carpenter aids in Christmas Eve birth outside hospital

December 26, 2009 (CHICAGO) "I heard behind me the mom. She was yelling so loud and when I turned my head I see her looking to the heaven, imploring for help for her child," said Ilie Elijah Popa.

It happened the morning of Christmas Eve outside Saint Joseph Hospital.

Jessica Garcia was in labor with her second child. Her husband Jaime was trying to carry her into the emergency room.

The carpenter, Ilie Elijah Popa, heard the Garcias' calls for help and rushed over. Just steps from the door baby Ignacio was born.

He and his parents are doing well and are grateful for Popa's help.
