Former CPS chief endorses Hoffman for Illinois Senate

December 30, 2009 (CHICAGO) Hoffman and Vallas appeared together at a morning news conference.

Hoffman is trying to win the seat currently held by Senator Roland Burris. Vallas, who currently serves as superintendent of the Recovery School District of Louisiana, called Hoffman "an individual of great integrity."

"He has desire to do the right thing. He's a serious man going about the serious business of rooting out corruption in government. This is an individual we need to put in the senate," said Paul Vallas, Former CEO, Chicago Public Schools.

"Paul understands that being independent here in Illinois is not so easy. He knows leadership is not something defined by what you say on the campaign trail, but by what you've done in your career," said David Hoffman, (D) Illinois Senate candidate.

The Illinois Senate primary will be February 2 of 2010.

David Hoffman faces competition from state treasurer Alexi Giannoulias and former Urban League Director Cheryle Jackson among others.
