Jesus Garcia picks up endorsements in race

December 30, 2009 (CHICAGO) Garcia was elected to the Chicago City Council in 1986.

He also served two terms in the state senate.

He's running for county commissioner from the Southwest Side.

"The county doesn't have the luxury to waste precious resources any more. The time for change, reform and accountability is ripe," Garcia said.

"It's important the taxpayers win this battle so there aren't apologists for Todd Stroger on the county board, but leaders and reformers like Jesus Garcia," said Forest Claypool, (D) Cook County Commissioner.

Garcia refuses to say whether he favors a complete rollback of the controversial county sales tax, saying he's needs more information before deciding.
