January 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) --
Mayor Daley says there are a number of ways Chicagoans can save on their taxes. During an event Thursday at City Hall he urged those who qualify to apply for the "earned income tax credit." It provides tax refunds of up to $5,600 to low-income families. But people must apply for the tax credit. They will not receive it automatically.
Homeowners can also receive a tax credit through the city. And the city is providing free tax preparation at 29 sites.
