Suspect in custody after 4-year-old shot in Chicago

January 8, 2010 (CHICAGO) Authorities took a 23-year-old man into custody Thursday night, following the shooting on Wednesday. He had not been charged Friday morning.

The child was hit by a bullet Wednesday night as he sat in a minivan with his father in the 3100-block of North Long Avenue. The boy was shot in the thigh.

He was taken to Children's Memorial Hospital in good condition and is expected to recover. Police believe that the shooting was gang-related and that the boy was not the intended target.
