Amtrak suspends service from Chicago to Denver

January 8, 2010 (CHICAGO) The railroad is suspending service between Chicago and Denver because of blowing and drifting snow in Nebraska. Amtrak says some drifts in Nebraska are as big as two stories high.

Amtrak's "California Zephyr" train pulled into Denver's Union Station early Friday, which was 24 hours late. It had been stuck for 12 hours in a snow drift in Nebraska.

Engine problems caused two other delays along the route.

Amtrak has not said when it will resume service between Chicago and Denver.
