Schakowsky backs Preckwinkle for Cook Co. board pres.

January 11, 2010 (CHICAGO) Congressman Jan Schakowsky calls Preckwinkle the only progressive and reformer in the democratic primary race.

Schakowsky also says Preckwinkle has been able to unite people from different communities throughout Cook County.

"We want to encourage all those who long for the kind of government that they deserve the kind of clean and government full of integrity and purpose and direction and focus and help for people who rely on county government and they will get it with Toni Preckwinkle," said Rep. Jan Schakowsky, (D) Chicago & North Suburbs.

Preckwinkle pledged to take a 10 percent pay cut if she is elected board president. She faces Dorothy Brown, Terrence O'Brien and incumbent Todd Stroger in the Democratic primary.
