January 13, 2010 (CHICAGO) --
A Chicago homeless shelter that was on the verge of shutting down may be able to survive. The Inner Voice shelter has been helping the homeless for over 25 years. But the organization was $300,000 in debt and said without additional funding it would have to close.
Seventy thousand dollars in recent donations will allow the shelter to save 494 beds. But it still needs another $150,000 to keep five other shelters open.
The agency also said that a founding member of inner voice, Adley "Dave" Davis has passed away.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
