January 13, 2010 (CHICAGO) --Chicago's pothole problem is better this winter than in the past couple of years.Freeze then thaw cycles are the main cause of potholes. So far we've had one long freeze cycle, therefore there are fewer potholes.
The Chicago department of transportation also says 31 miles of streets were resurfaced. Those streets don't need much attention so crews are getting to other places that do.
The funding for the resurfacing came from federal stimulus money.
