IRS launches online filing system

Tax season is approaching and the Internal Revenue Service is trying to make it easier and quicker for those getting a refund.The IRS launched a new online filing system today-- www.irs.gov/efile/index.html?portlet=8-- with a promise for people who do their taxes electronically will get refunds in as few as 10 days.

Filing paper returns usually takes 4 to 6 weeks.

For families and individuals making less than 57-thousand dollars, the IRS is offering free computer software similar to commercial programs that charge for their services.

The program is designed to help taxpayers get all deductions and credits they are entitled to.

For those who owe additional taxes, they can file electronically as well and pay later.
