January 15, 2010 (CHICAGO) --Two Americans from a Chicago-based non-profit group were killed in the earthquake in Haiti. The group, "Friends of the Orphans," says 22-year-old Molly Hightower of Washington state and 24-year-old Ryan Kloos of Arizona died when a school collapsed.
Hightower had been volunteering in a physical therapy program there since June.
Kloos was visiting his sister, who has been volunteering in Haiti since 2007. She survived.
