Brain size may influence video game ability

January 21, 2010 Researchers writing in the journal Cerebral Cortex discovered they could predict how well an amateur player might perform by measuring certain parts of the brain.

MRI scans showed participants with a larger area known as the "reward center" outperformed others.

But those who ultimately did best had larger sections deep in the center of the brain.

These areas have been linked with the ability to learn new skills as well as being able to adapt to changing environments.
