Schillerstrom drops out of gov. race

January 22, 2010 (CHICAGO) The DuPage County Board chairman says he's throwing his support to former attorney general Jim Ryan in the February 2nd primary.

On Friday morning, Ryan pointed to his background as a Golden Gloves boxer to show he's ready to take on powerful democrats in Springfield.

"I won the middle weight championship in this city. I've been knocked on my butt a lot in life. Not just in the ring, but in my life. If you think I'm afraid of Mike Madigan, or anyone else, think again," said Jim Ryan, (R) candidate for governor.

The other Republican candidates in the race are businessman Andy McKenna, state senators Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard, businessman Adam Andrzejewski, and communications consultant Dan Proft.
