Study: Best to potty train between ages 2 and 3

January 22, 2010 (CHICAGO) A new study is weighing in on the subject with the recommendation that the best time to start may be between the second and third birthday.

According to the report, children who waited longer to use the toilet, about 32 months, were more likely to have daytime wetting and bedwetting problems later on.

The research in the Journal of Pediatric Urology says timing is more important than technique.

Signs of readiness include showing interest in the potty, staying dry during naps and being able to follow simple directions.
